American Values Assessment: Part Five (25%): due Week 8 (please post to your online assignments folder). There are two options for this project. Please choose one of the two.
In this assignment, you will use web-based data and reports to document examples of unskilled workers in the U.S. (data analysis, personal assessment, and position paper). The paper must include a list of 6 references in APA formatting at the end of the paper.
Guidelines:
Write a 3-5 page double-spaced Critical Analysis paper: Using current employment and unemployment data and recent public opinion poll data (2010-14). Describe the social and economic realities of unskilled workers in the United States today. Use empirical data to support your arguments and conclusions. Cite all sources including assigned material for the course. Use APA formatting and include a reference list at the end of your paper.
Do not use the 1st person (“I”. “my” “me” “we” etc.). First person suggests subjectivity (personal opinion) rather than objectivity (empiricism). The resources below are suggested but not mandatory. If you can find more recent sources please do so. You can use reports from the resources below rather than accessing their databases. There are other resources you can use that have been provided earlier in the course discussion material or listed in the Webliography. However, please be sure that the sources you use for your papers meet the criteria set out for C.U.E. (See Lecture 1).

Position Paper Issue of concern in 2016
In this assignment, you will use web-based data and reports to document examples of challenges facing our society of concern to you. Your position must be supported with empirical evidence provided by authoritative sources that satisfy the CUE criteria. See Power-point lecture Week 1. The paper must include in-text references for facts or l statements taken from another source and a list of 6 references using APA formatting at the end of the paper. These sources can include assigned material provided in the course (discussions, learning resources, webliography) as well articles posted as FYI News Items.
Guidelines:
Write a 3-5 page double spaced paper on any topic covered in the course:
This can include:
Education
Criminal Justice Reform
Immigration
Economic Issues including the wage/wealth gap, cost of living vs. stagnating wages or the shrinking “middle class”.
National Security
Terrorism
Inequality
Since these are broad topics narrow your paper to an issue within that topic that is a current concern in American society in 2016.
Do not use the 1st person (“I”. “my” “me” “we” etc.). First person suggests subjectivity (personal opinion) rather than objectivity (empiricism). Use third person (“she/he” “they/them” “it” etc.)
